Annette Thomson was born and raised in Glenorchy and spent most of her
first fourteen years mustering and deerstalking on her family's
isolated mountainous sheep station 'Earnslaw' in the South Island of
New Zealand, studying partly by correspondence until she had to attend
boarding school.
